With today’s options and tools, this can be overwhelming task to consider.  Here is a simple mind map to get you started.

1) Begin with your main website.

Your main website is the center of your plan.  It should provide property search, seller marketing plans,  and agent contact information.  You also need blogging / posting capabilities to share local news and information that is important for a buyer or seller to know.  If you do not have a blogging platform yet (and even if you do), I would strongly recommend building your site on the WordPress product.  Recommend Posting: 2-4 times per week.

2) Facebook Business Page.  

Next create a facebook business page.   This is different than your personal / profile page.  The business page is where you can “talk shop” and share announcements with your audience.  You still need to have a personal voice and encourage interaction with those that follow you.  Recommend posting: 1-2 times per day depending on the information.

3) Twitter Account.  

Twitter is your announcement platform to the world.  You can share your latest listings, your celebrations, news on the community, just about anything that you would like to share in 140 characters or less.  You can also set-up an automatic “tweet” when you post on your facebook business page.  Recommend tweeting:   4-6 times per day.

4) Linkedin.  

Linkedin is used as your online resume.  It is a more formal network of connections and relationships.  You can also follow  and reconnect with previous companies and/or co-workers.   I would stay focused on professional content posts such as what is your latest achievement or book that you have read.  Linkedin offers a wonderful “Group” feature where you can join and network with those who have similar interests as you.  Recommend Posting:  at least once per week.  More often if it is professionally news worthy.

5) Youtube channel.  

Once you have progressed to video, you will want to consider Youtube.  You can set-up your own channel on youtube and have people subscribe to your latest content.  Recommend Posting:  consider posting weekly with the latest area events or home of the week.

No more excuses.

With this simple mind map you can now begin implementing your social networking plan for real estate.  It will take less than 2 hours to set-up all of these accounts including your facebook business page, so get going!

Then step through the process.

It will allow you to choose which business page you would like to tweet to which twitter account.

Now test it out – you will see how easy this is and now can be adding to your Twitter Account automatically!

Many have asked about having Twitter automatically update the Facebook status, but in my opinion this is the wrong direction.  You may be tweeting 5-10 times a day and that would be too many facebook status updates.  I recommend 1-3 facebook business page updates per day depending what you are sharing and this will add to your overall Tweet count.  I will share my general facebook status schedule in a future blog entry.

What is the HOT Committee?  It is a committee that was formed by the El Dorado County Association of REALTORS to help support the service men and women from our community who are serving overseas in the military.

The HOT committee holds 2 fund raisers a year – a pancake breakfast at the beginning of the year, and a spaghetti feed in late summer.  They gather supplies and donations to put into the boxes and they ship 3 times per year.

Not only are local realtors and affiliates involved, but many from the community participate and support the events as well. Today I worked next to a mom whose son is based in Iraq.  She was there to help pack boxes because her family member has been the beneficiary of a box and she wanted to continue the support!

• cheered when the Apple store closed and the curtains went up
• cheered when we lined up for the official opening
• danced when we were handed our Golden Ticket
• and jump and shouted when our personal shopper came to greet us by name
• and yelled and shouted some more when we all were escorted into the store!

Apple is very good at creating hype and excitement. Who would have thought that we would all be so excited to wait and then spend a minimum of $500 to leave with our nicely packaged iPad2?

Would I do it again? Absolutely!
